Amanda Tosoff Words Project

On her new release Words, pianist/composer Amanda Tosoff stretches the confines of conventional jazz. She has taken poems and lyrics that possess a personal resonance for her and framed them in original new compositions that include vocals for the first time. The result is an eclectic collection that incorporates elements of jazz, art song, classical, and folk/pop while re-casting the poems of award-winning Canadian poets Tim Bowling and Laura Lush, as well as William Wordsworth and Edgar Allan Poe, and contemporary artists like Joni Mitchell and Yo Yo Ma.
