Jazz/Soul vocalist/pianist /composer Mala Waldron returns to Club Bonafide by popular demand with her “Mala Waldron Project” – the same group that performed at the CD release for her new “Deep Resonance” CD. The ensemble features bassist, SUE WILLIAMS, PREMIK RUSSELL TUBBS (on sax & bass flute) and Detroit native, Jonathon Peretz on drums/percussion.
The daughter of two jazz pianists, Mala credits both of them (most notably her father, pianist/composer, Mal Waldron) with giving her a solid foundation in the jazz tradition. She jokes that she probably could recognize the melody to “Willow Weep for Me” before she even said her first word!
She has delighting audiences all over the world including Italy, Japan, France, China and Russia. Her CD, “Always There” was voted Top CDs of 2006 by JazzUSA.
